Dr. Bob is a transplant from the Midwest, who was born in Michigan and lived in Chicago and Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1966 and subsequently came to California to intern. He did his dermatology residency at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center and was a dermatologist with the Permanente (Kaiser) Medical Group from 1972 until his retirement in 1998.

He has been involved in Sacramento Area history for over 40 years. He started a committee to restore the Sacramento Historic City Cemetery over 30 years ago. He currently chairs or is on the Board of several historical groups and started and chairs a consortium of over 30 historical organizations.

EVOLUTION OF THE MUSEUM

Dr. Bob has chaired the Medical Society’s Historical Committee for over 40 years and curated a major exhibit, “Out of the Doctor’s Bag”, at the Sacramento History Museum in 1990. It was, when that exhibit closed, that several exhibit cases of artifacts were displayed in the Society Lobby. When the Society’s library closed in the late 1990’s it provided the space for the first phase of the museum in 2001. Fifteen years later, thanks to a generous donation from Millie Kahane, RN, we were able to complete the expansion, almost doubling its size.
