SACRAMENTO BLOOD BANK ORIGINS

Founded as the Sacramento Medical Foundation (SMF) by the Sacramento Society for Medical Improvement (known today as the Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society) in 1948. Legacy names include SMF Blood Bank, BloodSource (2002), and now Vitalant (2018).
